PIXLOVADocumentation

Windows

Install the Pixlova Player on a Windows 11 PC and link it to your screens.

The Windows Player installs on a PC plugged into one or more screens. It keeps its content on disk, keeps playing without Internet and updates itself.

Requirements

  • A PC running Windows 11, 64-bit (x86_64).
  • An existing Windows account that will show the Player: the installer does not create one.
  • Administrator access for the installation.
  • An Internet connection for pairing and the first content download.

The display component used by the Player (WebView2) comes with Windows 11.

Install the Player

The installer is the pixlova-player-<version>-windows-x86_64-setup.exe file. Download it from the download page, also linked in the app when you add a screen.

  1. Sign in to Windows with the account that will show the content.
  2. Run the installer and accept the administrator prompt.
  3. On the Serveur pixlova step (server address), keep the suggested address (https://api.pixlova.com) unless Pixlova tells you otherwise.
  4. Leave the Relancer automatiquement le Player s’il est fermé ou arrêté option checked (restart the Player automatically if it is closed or stopped). It is recommended for a signage screen.
  5. At the end of the installation, leave Lancer Pixlova Player (start Pixlova Player) checked, then finish.

The Player opens in full screen in this account’s session and shows a pairing code on each monitor. It then starts again each time this account signs in.

  1. Note the XXXX-XXXX code shown on the monitor to link. It is valid for 5 minutes; a new code appears on its own when it expires.
  2. In Pixlova, open Screens › All screens, click + Add a screen, then enter the code in Code shown on the screen (see Screens).
  3. Schedule content for this screen.

With several monitors, each one shows its own code: the screen entered with a code stays bound to the monitor that showed it. Repeat for each monitor.

As long as nothing is scheduled, the Player shows a standby screen with the logo, time and date instead of a black screen.

Unattended screens

The Player shows in the user’s session. For a screen that must start on its own after a power cut or a Windows update, set up automatic sign-in for this account, for example with Microsoft Sysinternals’ Autologon tool.

Without a signed-in session, the Player keeps syncing in the background but shows nothing until the session opens.

Stop and restart the Player

The Start menu has two shortcuts:

  • Pixlova Player starts the Player;
  • Arrêter Pixlova Player (stop Pixlova Player) stops it until the next start or the next sign-in.

With automatic restart, the Player comes back within a second if it is closed (Alt+F4) or killed. Without it, Alt+F4 closes it until the next start.

Updates

The Player checks every hour whether a new version has been published and installs it on its own. If it does not start properly, the Player goes back to the previous version. You can also trigger the update from the Player version card on its page in Pixlova (see Players).

Running the installer of a newer version on a PC that already has the Player updates it. A version older than the installed one is refused.

Install on several PCs

To roll out the Player without the wizard, run the installer from the command line, as administrator:

pixlova-player-<version>-windows-x86_64-setup.exe /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /APIURL=https://api.pixlova.com /USER=<existing account>
  • /USER is the Windows account that will show the Player; without it, the current session’s user is used.
  • Add /MERGETASKS="!relance" to turn off automatic restart.

Uninstall

Uninstall Pixlova Player from Settings › Apps. The Player’s data, including its identity, is kept: reinstalled on the same PC, it stays the same Player in Pixlova.

To reuse the PC elsewhere, first delete the Player in Pixlova (Screens › Players), then link it again: it will be a new Player.
