Playlists
Loop through images, videos and creations, then publish the playlist.
A playlist loops through images, videos and creations. You set the order and duration of each item, publish the playlist, then schedule it on your screens.
Find your playlists in Scheduling › Playlists.
Required permissions
Creating and editing a playlist is reserved for the Owner, Administrator and Content manager roles. Other members can view playlists (View button).
Create a playlist
- Click + Create a playlist.
- Enter a Name, for example “Weekday welcome”.
- Click Create playlist. The playlist editor opens.
Simpler: the assistant
To loop a few pieces of content, you can also select them directly in the Schedule content assistant: it creates the playlist for you.
Add and set up items
Click + Add content, then choose an image, a video or a published composition. A playlist cannot contain another playlist. A playlist holds up to 200 items.
For each item, the Playlist items table lets you set:
- Duration (s): the display time in seconds. An image must have a duration (10 s by default when added). For a video, leave it empty to play it in full; a shorter duration cuts the video, a longer one loops it.
- Active: uncheck to skip the item without removing it.
- Validity: optional start and end dates and times. Outside this period, the item is skipped. Times are entered in your browser’s time zone, shown in the column header.
- The ↑ and ↓ arrows to change the order, Duplicate and Remove.
At the top of the editor, choose the Transition between items (Cut or Fade). The editor also shows the Loop duration.
Save and publish
- Save keeps your changes as a draft, without changing what screens show.
- Publish creates a new version of the playlist. The screens that play it receive the update in a few moments.
Issues are shown above the table: “Blocking” or “Warning”. Fix the blocking issues before publishing.
Only a published playlist can be scheduled. In your playlist list, each card shows Version N or Draft, with “unpublished changes” when relevant. You can filter by state (Published, Unpublished changes, Drafts) and search by name.
Automatic updates
Programs always play the latest published version of a playlist. Republishing a playlist therefore updates every screen that plays it, without touching the programs.
How the playlist plays
- A disabled or out-of-validity item is skipped.
- If no item is playable, the playlist gives way to the lower-level program, then to the screen’s fallback content.
- Whenever the program on the screen changes, playback restarts from the first item.
Duplicate or delete a playlist
From your playlist list:
- Duplicate creates a copy of the playlist.
- Delete removes the playlist after confirmation. Programs that play it move on to the next item.
The Delete playlist button is also available at the bottom of the editor.
