Schedules
Schedule content all the time or on certain days and times, and understand which time zone is used.
A schedule plays content on a recurring basis. With the Schedule content assistant, you create a schedule by choosing All the time or Certain days and times in the When step.
All the time
The content plays all the time, every day from 00:00 to midnight, whenever nothing else is scheduled. It is the right choice for a screen’s usual display: a program on certain days and times, a campaign or an instant broadcast goes before it.
Certain days and times
- Click the Days you want (Mon to Sun). Choose at least one day.
- Enter the start time in From and the end time in To.
- Click Continue →.
The content plays every week, on those days, between those times. For example: breakfast from Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 10:30.
Running past midnight
An end time before the start time runs past midnight: from 22:00 to 02:00, the slot starts at 22:00 and ends at 02:00 the next day. The slot belongs to the day it starts: with “Fri” selected, it covers Friday night into Saturday.
An end time of 00:00 means “until midnight”.
Time zone
Times follow each screen’s local time. A schedule from 08:00 to 12:00 on a screen in Paris and a screen in Montreal plays from 8 am to noon in Paris, then from 8 am to noon in Montreal.
A screen’s time zone is the one set on the screen, otherwise its site’s, otherwise the organization’s. Your browser’s time zone is never used for a schedule.
Daylight saving time
- A time slot whose start time does not exist (switch to summer time) is skipped that day.
- A repeated hour (back to winter time) counts only once.
The advanced editor
Some programs are not created with the assistant, for example those with several time slots or exceptions. In the program list, they show the Advanced editor button, which opens the schedule editor.
Required permissions
Editing a schedule is reserved for the Owner, Administrator and Content manager roles.
Time zone of the times
Leave the Time zone of the times field empty so that each screen applies the times in its own time zone. You can also set one time zone for the whole schedule (for example Europe/Paris): all targeted screens then apply the times in that time zone.
Targets
The Targets card lists the targeted screens. Choose a Target type (Whole organization, Site, Group or Screen), then click Include or Exclude. An exclusion always takes precedence over an inclusion. Groups are re-evaluated on every change: a screen added to a targeted group receives the schedule.
At the top of the editor, the Screens currently targeted: line shows the number of screens concerned.
Time slots
Click + Add a time slot and choose content. For each time slot, set:
- Days: the days of the week;
- Hours: start and end, or the until midnight checkbox;
- Dates: an optional first and last day, to limit the slot to a period;
- Priority: Low, Normal, High or Very high. Between two slots at the same time, the highest level wins.
Use Change content or Remove to edit a slot. A schedule holds up to 100 time slots.
Dated exceptions
An exception changes the schedule on a specific day, for example a public holiday. Click + Add an exception, then choose:
- the date;
- the targeted time slot, or All time slots;
- the action: Show nothing from this schedule or Replace the content (then click Choose).
An exception that targets a specific time slot takes precedence over one that targets all time slots. A schedule holds up to 200 exceptions.
Save, publish, deactivate
- Save keeps your changes as a draft.
- Publish sends the new version to the targeted screens. Each screen applies it after preparation: follow the state on its page.
- Deactivate stops the schedule after confirmation.
Any issues are shown below the targeted screens line.
