Preview and publish

Preview a creation in your screens' format, fix the things to check, publish it and manage its versions.

Preview a creation

Click Preview in the editor's top bar. The Preview window shows the creation with its animations and the data of its live information.

In the Profile list, choose the surface to simulate:

  • Canvas: the creation's page, at its own dimensions;
  • Screen "…": one of your screens, at its resolution. Clocks show the time in that screen's time zone;
  • Custom format: enter a width and a height.

Click Replay to restart the display and see the entrance animations again.

Below the preview, notes help you anticipate the result:

  • if the screen's format differs from the creation's, bars will appear: the creation is shown in full and centred;
  • if the screen is mounted rotated, the Player applies the rotation at the output;
  • fonts, crops and media are those of the Players, but a preview does not replace a check on the actual screen.

A playlist zone stays empty in the preview.

Before publishing

Pixlova checks the creation while you work. When something needs your attention, a "1 thing to check" or "3 things to check" button appears in the top bar. Click it to open the Before publishing list, then click an item to select the element concerned.

There are two kinds of items:

  • errors block publishing;
  • warnings are shown without blocking.

Publish

  1. Fix any errors.
  2. Click Publish to screens.

The draft is saved first, then published. The message "Version 1 published." (or 2, 3…) confirms the publication, and the creation's state changes to Published.

Each publication creates a new version, which never changes afterwards. You can keep editing the draft: the Unpublished changes state reminds you that screens still show the previous version until the next publication.

Show the creation on your screens

  • First time: add the creation to a playlist or a program. Only published creations are offered there. See Programming.
  • Creation already being shown: the screens showing it automatically receive the new version after each publication.

Version history

Open More actions (three dots, top right) > Version history. Each version shows its number, its publication date and the person who published it. The note "restored from v2", for example, marks a version republished from an older one.

Go back to a previous version

  1. In the history, click Republish next to the version you want.
  2. Confirm.

The chosen version is republished under a new number and the draft is replaced with its content. The history is never rewritten: you can always go back to any version.
