Templates
Start from a Pixlova template to build a creation in minutes, or save your own templates.
A template is a creation ready to customize: layout, text, colours and image placeholders. Templates are in Content > Templates (app.pixlova.com/templates). On the Creations page, the Start from a template button also leads there.
Basic and Pro plans
Templates are included in the paid plans (Basic and Pro). With the Free plan, you can browse and preview every template, but not use them: they are marked with a star. See Billing.
Browse templates
The page has two tabs:
- Pixlova templates: the templates provided by Pixlova;
- My templates: the templates saved by your organization.
Each template shows a preview, its category, its format and a description. To filter:
- type one or more words in the search field: they are looked up in the name and description, with or without accents;
- choose a Category; the number of templates in each is shown in brackets;
- choose a Format: Landscape, Portrait, Square or Banner (LED screens).
Templates are shown 48 at a time; Show more templates, at the bottom of the page, shows the next ones.
The Pixlova catalogue has more than 1,000 templates in 20 categories:

Pixlova templates are shown in your account's language (English or French), including the language of clocks and weather.
Previews show no images: logos and photos are placeholders that you fill with your own media. Weather and news appear in the editor and on screens; in the gallery, they stay on hold.
Template widgets
Most templates use elements and widgets: time and date, weather, news, QR code, icons and emoji, animations. Once the creation is made:
- the weather shows a sample city (Paris, Lyon…): select the widget in the editor and search for your city in the settings bar;
- the news reads a sample feed: replace its address with the RSS feed of your choice;
- QR codes have a sample address to replace with yours (often offered as a field to fill in the template).
Use a template
- Click Use this template.
- In the window that opens, enter the Composition name.
- Fill in the fields the template asks for, for example:
- a text (business name, message, QR code address…);
- a colour (main colour);
- an image (logo, photo): click Choose an image and select a media file from your library. You can also leave it "To choose later in the editor".
- Click Create composition. The editor opens on your new creation.
The resulting creation is independent: later changes to the template will not modify it. You can edit it freely in the editor.
Images to choose
An image left empty must be chosen in the editor before publishing: as long as a media file is missing, publishing is blocked. Select the image placeholder on the page, then click Choose in the settings bar.
Save your own templates
You can turn one of your creations into a template that your whole organization can reuse.
- Open Content > Creations.
- Under the creation's thumbnail, click the Save as template icon.
- Enter the Template name, choose a Category and, if you like, a Description (optional).
- Click Save template. The template appears in the My templates tab.
The template uses the creation's draft. It is only visible to your organization, and changing the creation afterwards does not change the template. If the creation itself came from a Pixlova template, the fields to fill in that are still used are kept.
Your own templates are also included in the Basic and Pro plans. An organization can save up to 200 templates.
Delete one of your templates
- In the My templates tab, click the template's Delete icon.
- Confirm. Creations already made with this template remain.
Only your own templates can be deleted; Pixlova templates cannot.
