Screen settings
Rename a screen, set its format, rotation and time zone, change its Player, manage its license or delete it.
Each screen has its own page. Open it from the Screens page by clicking the screen’s name.
The screen page
At the top of the page, the screen is drawn to its proportions, with its state. Next to it you find:
- its name, with a pencil to rename it;
- its state (Online, Offline, Never connected), the Player and output that show it (for example “Player Window · output HDMI-A-1”), or No Player; the Inactive badge for a screen without a license;
- its specifications: size in pixels, rotation (No rotation, Rotated 90°, Upside down, Rotated 270°), time zone (or Site time zone), site, Player type (Native Player or Web Player) and last contact;
- the Schedule this screen button, for an active screen.
The page has three tabs:
- Playback: what the screen plays and its schedule. See Programming.
- Health and commands: the screen’s state and remote commands. See Monitoring.
- Settings: the cards described below.
Rename the screen
- Click the pencil (Rename) next to the name.
- Type the new name.
- Click Save or press Enter. Cancel or Escape discards the change.
Screen format
The Screen format card sets the image size in pixels and the panel’s orientation.
- Choose a format: Landscape (1920×1080), Portrait (1080×1920), LED banner (2688×672 or 3840×480), LED totem (768×2304), 4K (3840×2160), or Custom for another size.
- With Custom, enter the Width (px) and Height (px): from 32 to 7680 pixels per side, at most an 8K screen (7680 × 4320).
- Choose the Panel rotation: Normal, 90°, Upside down or 270°. Use it when the screen is mounted in a different direction from its original one.
- Choose the screen’s Time zone, or The site’s. Schedule times follow this time zone.
- Click Save. Saved confirms the change.
Below the settings, a line tells you whether the resolution is compatible with the Player:
- Resolution compatible with the Player’s declared capabilities.
- The resolution exceeds the maximum canvas declared by the Player: publishing will be refused. Choose a smaller resolution.
- Compatibility unknown when no Player is paired or it has not declared its capabilities.
Screen site
A screen’s site is chosen when it is created, based on the site selected in the header. It is shown in the specifications on its page.
Player
The Player card shows the device plugged into the screen: its name, type and output (for example “Native Player · output HDMI-A-1”), with (connected) or (disconnected) when the Player reports it, and its last contact.
Pair a Player with a screen that has none
- In the Player card, choose a Player from the list (only free outputs that have not shown another screen are offered).
- Click Pair this Player.
If the Player does not appear, use the code shown on the screen (the Connect a Player to this screen box at the top of the page) or the Pair a new Player link. See Add a screen.
Replace the Player
To replace a faulty Player with a new device:
- First pair the new device from the Players page (see Add a screen).
- In the screen’s Player card, click Change Player.
- Choose the new Player and its output, then click Replace Player.
- Confirm.
The screen keeps its name, content, schedule and history. The old Player is permanently detached: it will not take the screen back when it reconnects and cannot serve another screen.
The card’s How does it work? section recalls the rules: one Player per screen; a Player stays bound to the screen it has shown; if the Internet goes down, it keeps going with the last program received.
License
The License card has an Active screen / Inactive screen switch. Only active screens play content.
- Deactivating a screen frees its license and keeps everything (name, Player, schedule). The screen shows the standby screen.
- Activating a screen opens the Activate “screen name” window:
- if a license is free, click Activate: the screen becomes active and plays its schedule;
- if all licenses are in use, choose under Move the license from the screen that gives up its license, then click Move the license. That screen becomes inactive and shows the standby screen; its schedule is kept. You can also click Upgrade your plan (see Plans and billing).
If the screen’s site is inactive with your current plan, the card says so and the screen stays on standby.
Player history
The Player history card lists the Players and outputs that have shown the screen, with the period of each assignment (ongoing for the current one).
Danger zone
These actions cannot be undone and ask for confirmation.
- Detach this Player: the Player is removed permanently and no longer syncs; the screen keeps its schedule. To reuse the device, pair it again: it will be a new Player. If this Player also shows other screens through its other outputs, those screens are detached too.
- Delete screen: its Player is detached, its license freed and it disappears from the schedule. Your images, videos and creations stay in the library.
