From a media file to the screen
The full journey in Pixlova, from uploading a media file to showing it on a screen at the right time.
The Setup page is the fastest way to show a first content. This page describes the full journey, which you will use as soon as you want several contents, visuals made in Pixlova or different times of day.
The journey always follows the same order:
- Media: your images and videos, in the library.
- Creation or playlist: a visual designed in Pixlova, or a sequence of several contents.
- Program: what plays, on which screens and when.
- Screen: the screen connected to a Player, which receives the program.
1. Upload your media
Go to Content › Media and click Upload, or drag and drop your files onto the page. Each file is prepared for the screens after upload.
Your media files are shared across the whole organization: all sites and all users with access to content see them.
To find out more: Media library.
2. Create a visual or a playlist
This step is optional: you can schedule an image or a video directly.
- A creation is a visual designed in the Pixlova editor (text, images, videos…). Go to Content › Creations and click + New creation, or start from Content › Templates. Publish it so it can be scheduled. To find out more: Creations.
- A playlist plays several contents one after the other, in a loop. Go to Scheduling › Playlists and click + Create a playlist. To find out more: Programming.
The editor works on a phone, but it is more comfortable on a computer.
3. Schedule the content
Go to Scheduling and click + Schedule content. The program assistant asks you, in order:
- What: a creation, an image, a video or a playlist. Several choices form a loop, in the order selected.
- Where: the screens, or a whole site.
- When: All the time, Certain days and times or Over a period.
- Publish: the program is sent to the screens.
The Today tab then shows what each screen plays during the day. To find out more: Programming.
4. Check on the screen
Each screen must be connected to a Player to receive its programs. If that is not done yet, use the Setup page.
Go to Screens › All screens and open the screen’s page to see what it is playing right now and its status. To find out more: Screens and Players.
If a screen drops out, an incident appears on the Home page and under Screens › Incidents. To find out more: Monitoring.
